Andover Music Club was founded nearly 70 years ago by Miss Gladys New, a well-known singer in Andover. The club has developed to become one of the best-supported in southern England with over 180 season tickets sold last year. The club presents six concerts every season with a wide range of music performed by professional artists.

The brainchild of recorder virtuoso Piers Adams and violinist Julia Bishop, and named after the original ‘red priest’ Antonio Vivaldi, the quartet has developed a truly unique style, combining high-energy performance, boundary crossing arrangements and theatrical presentation, delighting audiences across the globe – including over 50 tours of America and Canada, and performances in prestigious festivals in almost every European country, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Lebanon, Japan, China, Malaysia, Mexico, Cuba, Australia and New Zealand. Since his appointment to the prestigious Gilmore Artist Award he has performed all across the world, with appearances in the BBC Proms, concert tours of Europe, Australia and North America, including performances at Sydney Opera House, the Kennedy Centre, Lincoln Centre, Ravinia Festival Chicago, the South Bank Centre etc. and a discography of 60 commercial CDs including his own Piano Concerto with the BBC Concert Orchestra, and his oratorio Prayerbook. His other compositions include a Symphony, the oratorio Turning Points, and the multi-media tribute to the passing seasons, HengeMusic. He recently gave the premiere of his Piano Sonata. Canadian cellist, Garwyn Linnell, has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in venues across the UK and Europe with highlight performances at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague, Muth KonzertSaal Vienna, and Vialte Festival in France. Beatrice Nicholas is a British pianist and chamber musician who has performed across Europe with memorable performances at the Wigmore Hall, Southbank Center, Cartier Foundation in Paris, Kings Place, Leeds Town Hall, Snape Maltings, and Edinburgh Queen’s Hall. Simon Mayor is one of the world’s leading mandolinists as well as a fine fiddle player, guitarist, composer and wit. His live performances are a riot of humorous anecdotes and off-the-cuff humour alongside dazzling musicianship. His many-faceted career includes two nights at Wembley Arena with the BBC Concert Orchestra, his own series on BBC Radio 2, an album in the Classic FM Top Ten chart, causing mayhem at a Canadian humour festival, and most memorably, a trip through the square window on BBC’s iconic Play School! He’s joined by an illustrious cast of virtuoso musicians playing everything from a Vivaldi mandolin concerto to a beautiful Irish ballad, a tempting tango, some hot-swing fiddle and a bluegrass banjo classic. As their motto Sing, Share, Support suggests, they are united by the simple act of coming together each week to experience the power and joy of singing in a group of women with a common bond.
