The music of the classic line-ups of Wishbone Ash continues to delight audiences worldwide through both live performances and a rich legacy of recorded work that continues to be enjoyed by fans old and new. Classic album releases such as Wishbone Ash, Argus, Pilgrimage, Wishbone Four, There’s the Rub, New England and Live Dates defined the Wishbone Ash sound and touched the hearts of several generations of music fans. As lead vocalist, bassist and key creative force, founding original member Martin Turner was central to the critical and commercial success of Wishbone Ash’s most revered albums. Martin continues to delight audiences with performances of the band’s best loved works with his current band, which features guitarists Danny Willson and Misha Nikolic, and drummer Sonny Flint. Event:  THE OCELOTS - 7.30pm - The Ocelots is a project created by twins Ashley & Brandon Watson. Originally based in Wexford, Ireland, they now reside in Leipzig, Germany. The Ocelots were formerly a school band, playing blues standards and alternative rock during lunchtime. In this space, Brandon & Ashley started writing their own music, pursuing the direction of Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel's folk sensibilities. They finished school and backpacked around Europe, playing shows and street-performing wherever they could.

This talk is a legacy from the 2017 exhibition at The ARC, The Mysterious Miss Austen, exploring who Jane Austen was, and whether we can ever know. An ensemble of performers weave together Hardy's words and the extreme physicality of circus to tell this tale of power, loss and endurance. Against a backdrop of projections, the cast wield wooden planks, climb shifting walls and move through ropes and swathes of linen to evoke the vast landscapes and interior worlds of Hardy's Wessex. It is a story which still has extraordinary relevance for our times in its incredibly nuanced evocation of female relationships, sexual desire, consent, privilege and poverty. This retelling captures the beauty, heartbreak and yearning of the novel and draws upon the incredible strength of the circus body to create a Tess as heroic as Hardy intended.

Against a backdrop of projections, the cast wield wooden planks, climb shifting walls and move through ropes and swathes of linen to evoke the vast landscapes and interior worlds of Hardy's Wessex. It is a story which still has extraordinary relevance for our times in its incredibly nuanced evocation of female relationships, sexual desire, consent, privilege and poverty.
