Johannes Vermeer (1632–1675) was a Dutch Baroque painter celebrated for his masterful use of light, colour, and perspective. Though relatively obscure during his lifetime, Vermeer is now considered one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age. He is best known for intimate, meticulously composed interior scenes, such as Girl with a Pearl Earring and The Milkmaid. The 7-piece outfit has been attracting similar reviews for more than ten years now. Singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist James Studholme is at the helm, supported by fiddle, banjo, accordion, trumpet, bass and drums. These varied instruments allow the band create a mosaic of sounds and songs including husky ballads mourning lost loves, foot-stompers about the West Country and full-throated, multi-harmony anthems. It connected with wider audiences and secured her a place on the UK touring circuit. After the release of her celebrated album, Ellie has continued to firmly root herself in the songwriting scene. However this time, her new music amplifies her writing; referencing the more contemporary sounds of MIPSO and JeffBuckley.
